Indian Child Welfare (ICW)
In accordance with the Indian Child Welfare Act, we work in conjunction with Washington State Children’s Administration to provide services to Samish children who are neglected, abused, exploited, or are otherwise in need of services. Referrals come from a protective service agency or any concerned party. Samish staff tries to intervene in a case to prevent more involvement with the State’s Children’s Protective Services. This service focuses on the safety of the children, involving multiple systems such as mental health, schools, drug and alcohol services, transportation, basic necessities (food, clothing and shelter) and legal assistance.
