Samish Annual 5k Fun Run/1 Mile Walk

The 2018 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk will start and stop at the Fidalgo Bay Resort.  The run and walk will take place on the Tommy Thompson Trail. The 5k Fun Run starts at 10:00 a.m. is an out and back route and will head west.  The 1 Mile Walk starts at 10:15 a.m. is out and back route and will head east.  The course for the Run and the Walk are certified and chip timed by Rivalry Events.  Parking is available at the Fidalgo Bay RV Resort Convention Center.   

Registration Information:

  • Registration is day of event only: Bib Number pick up 8:30 a.m. to race time. 
  • 5k Race starts at:  10:00 a.m.
  • 1 Mile Walk starts at:  10:15 a.m.
  • This is a Free event.  No Race Day Fees or Entry Fees.

Awards and Extras:

The top 3 male and top 3 female finishers in the 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk will receive winner’s ribbons and Colon Cancer Awareness and Prevention Medals.

All participants receive a commemorative t-shirt, water bottle, pedometer, healthy snacks and outreach materials on colon cancer prevention through regular screenings.

Samish Tobacco Prevention & Cessation Campaign

The 2018 Samish Colon Cancer Prevention 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk is a tribal and community-wideevent to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention of colon cancer through regular screenings.  The event will include a registration booth where informative colon cancer prevention and screening outreach materials will be available to inspire participants to engage in preventative lifestyle behaviors that will reduce the risk of colon cancer.  The 2018 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Northwest Tribal Cancer Control Project, and the Samish Indian Nation.
