Description

The Seasonal Landscaper at SLS must be able to perform all the activities as outlined below:

Principle Duties
  1. Works directly with the Manager of SLS to maintain properties at assigned locations
  2. Responsible for meeting deadlines set by the SLS Manager and managing time effectively
  3. Always follows safe work practices and safe operation of equipment
  4. Landscape and Maintenance services may include, but are not limited to:
    • Safe and effective operation of power equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, trimmers
    • Safe and effective use of hand tools
    • Safe and effective mixture and application of fertilizers and herbicides using hand or automatic applicators
    • Lawn maintenance activities such as mulching, aerating, weeding, trimming, removing thatch, edging, raking
    • Maintaining irrigation systems – winterizing and spring activation
    • Regular inspection, care and maintenance of all power tools and hand tools
    • Responsive to customer requests and understands the scope of services offered by SLS

  6. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum one year in a landscape maintenance position
  • Knowledge and experience operating both hand and mechanical equipment necessary for the job
  • Maintains effective working relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Has a strong desire to surpass expectations of customers and manager
  • Is organized and meets deadlines
  • Punctual and has regular attendance
  • Must be available to work day shift with a start time between 6am and 9am
  • Must be able to prioritize job responsibilities and multi-task efficiently, meeting the needs of immediate problems as they arise, while being able to finish daily projects
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Long periods of standing, frequent walking over rough or uneven surfaces required (45% of time). Regular bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and climbing (35% of time), and occasional sitting (20% of time). Must be able to lift 50lbs frequently. Manual dexterity sufficient to: manipulate tools, power tools, and equipment, operate maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers. Mental/Visual Demands: Frequent mental and/or visual attention to task is required. Occasionally work requires heavy concentration. Frequent interruptions. Tasks involve eye-hand coordination. Working Environment: Frequently working outside in various weather conditions. Work environment varies on a daily basis. Occasionally works alone without benefit of supervisor or co-worker. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Work requires moderate risks which require safety precautions (working around moving parts, chemicals, machines, etc). Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc). Random drug tests may be performed.
