Description

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing, screening, and hiring qualified candidates for various positions within the Samish tribal government and Samish enterprises. The Talent Acquisition Specialist works closely with the Human Resources Executive Director and the hiring managers to understand the staffing needs and the cultural fit of the candidates. The Talent Acquisition Specialist also develops and implements recruitment strategies, and procedures to attract and retain diverse and talented employees.

Principle Duties
  1. Leverage online recruiting resources, including but not limited to tribal websites, social media, job boards, higher education, professional associations and community networks.
  2. Review and pre-screen application packets to determine appropriateness of skills, experience, and knowledge in relation to position requirements.
  3. Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers, interview panels and provide feedback and recommendations
  4. Conduct interviews with potential candidates in a hybrid combination of in-person and virtual
  5. Conduct reference checks, background checks, drug tests, and verify employment eligibility and credentials.
  6. Prepare and extend job offers including salary and benefit package.
  7. Maintain and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding practices including working with various departments on new hire equipment, keys, badge, etc.
  8. Assists with the creation, development and presentation of in-house staff trainings as needed.
  9. Process purchase orders and invoices through the financial system.
  10. Maintain and update the applicant tracking system and the talent pool database.
  11. Maintain and update the human resources database systems.
  12. Track and process any sign-on bonus or other negotiated bonus, when applicable.
  13. Build and maintain relationships with candidates, employees, and external partners, such as educational institutions, professional associations, and tribal organizations promoting Samish employment.
  14. Participate in job fairs, career events, and outreach activities to promote the tribal government as an employer of choice.
  15. Provide reports and metrics on recruitment activities, outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.
  16. Stay updated on the best practices and trends in talent acquisition, and ensure compliance with tribal, federal, and state laws and regulations.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  1. Associates degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, or 3 years experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, and staffing
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, applicant tracking system, and social media platforms.
  3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  5. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  6. Ability to travel as needed.
  7. Preference will be given to qualified Samish citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. SHRM-CP or S-CP Certification, THRP Certification.
  2. Knowledge of the tribal government structure, culture, values, and mission.
  3. At least one year of experience in Tribal or Government Sector

Applicants must be a Washington State resident or willing to relocate to Washington State.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Long periods of sitting (60% of time); occasional bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing (20% of time); and occasional standing and walking (20% of time). Occasionally lifts/carries up to 30lbs. Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to use office equipment with frequent repetitive motion such as writing, typing, cash-handling, and phone use. Must possess the ability to view print on a computer screen and/or paper document; the ability to speak and hear exchanging information with end users by telephone Mental/Visual Demands: Frequent mental and/or visual attention to task is required. Occasionally work requires heavy concentration. Frequent interruptions. Tasks involve eye-hand coordination. Working Environment: Work environment is mainly indoors with heat and some air conditioning. Must sit or stand at the front desk for the majority of shift. Occasionally works alone without benefit of supervisor or co-worker. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Work requires minimal risks which require safety precautions (using some cleaning chemicals for light cleaning). Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc.)
