Paddle to Golden Gardens

We are invited to celebrate this anniversary with an historic paddle through the cut and the Ballard Locks, to golden Gardens Park.  A hundred years ago this month, the Montlake cut and Ballard Locks connected Lake Washington and Lake Union to the salt water.

Canoes will organize at the UW Waterfront Center boat launch by 9am a depart by 10am

Parking is free all day Sundays, the Samish vehicles will give paddlers rides back to cars afterwards, but more help is welcome. 

We estimate that the canoes will travel through the Ballard Locks between 11:30 and 1:00

Picnic Shelter #2 is reserved and 10 picnic tables for a potluck picnic from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm. Potluck dishes are welcome, utensils and drinks needed. Firewood for bonfires would be great. Bring folding chairs.

The Shilshole Marina has fee-based parking for canoe trailers and a day-use dock, for picking up canoes later.
