XWS 101: Mékw’ Skwéyel Qwel’nékwel (Everyday Conversation) is a 6-week online course meeting every other week that is open to Samish citizens and their households. Learners will learn common phrases and the basics of sentence structure, as well as practicing conversations together during class time.

April 1
Learners will get to know each other and the class expectations. They will also practice introducing themselves with their name and where they are from in the language.
Ená7 í7 Yá7 (Come and Go)
April 15
Learners will practice a few common action words, centered around the movement of Ená7 (Come) í7 Yá7 (Go).
X̱chít í7 Xchngí7n (Know and Feel)
April 29
Learners will practice variations of the common verb root X̱ch- in order to describe how they know or feel about things.
Lánget í7 Lángnexw (Look and See)
May 13
Learners will practice variations of the common verb root Láng- to describe seeing things.
S-tl'í7-s í7 S-xwetín-s (Like and Dislike)
May 27
Learners will practice saying what they like and dislike.
U7 Hákw’ tse Mékw’ í7 u7 Néptel (Review and Help)
June 10
Learners will review the conversations held during the class, and time will be offered for any further questions, comments, or concerns with regards to the materials.
